Are you ready ... for MY BABY ? It hasn ’ t taken long for Amsterdam based psychedelic, shamanic trio MY BABY ’ s swampy blues and funk-inflected sound to cast a formidable spell, taking the wor ld by storm. Over the past 12 months, Dutch brother-sister-duo Sheik (drums) and Cato van Dyck (vocals) and New Zealand guitarist Daniel “ daFreez ” Johnston have had their mojo working overtime and are rightly celebrated by Q Mag , Clash Magazine, Complex Magazine, The Sunday Express , Classic Rock and Artrocker amongst others as well as enjoying national airplay on BBC Radio 6 , Radio 2 and over 60 regional radio stations! “ MY BABY serve up acid-fried country stompers that will haunt y our dreams for weeks. ” - Q MAG MY BABY plays a brand of psychedelic Blues, Folk and Funk with a tribal dance groove. It ’ s a sound inspired by old blues and folk music, but played with the rawness o f sixties and seventies soul and funk and an edgy trance like infusion of West African d esert blues, Mo roccan Gnawa and Indian ragas. “ It ’ s rare for a band playing live to create the kind of vibe n ormally reserved for top name dance DJs but MY BABY nailed it. ” – The Argus After the release of their second album "Shamanaid' to much acclaim, MY BABY has been spreading their transcendent , mesmerizing live act to the approval of audiences worldwide, featuring on renowned festivals such as Glastonbury Festival, The Great Escape, Wilderness, Sziget and Lowlands - playing over 200 shows in 2015 alone. In their own words: “ Shamanaid is in our imagination a drink or magic potion used in a shamanistic ritual. Music is also an important part of those rituals. Repet itive beats and melodies are used to get into a trance, we always try to achieve so me- thing akin to that with our music. ” “ Psychedelic tapestries of sounds to drilled down beats, cl assic songwriting to a keen exploration of sound. ” - CLASH
